PSO Committees

Hilton PSO is very proud to offer the following programs & events to our students. Each committee is responsible for a specific event or program. Contact any PSO Board Member or existing committee member for more information. The success of these programs and events is dependent on parent volunteers.   

Beautification / Courtyard - Brad Chase
Improve the appearance of the school's exterior.

Bingo Night - Carolyn Jatsek
Responsible for organizing and running family bingo event.

Box Tops -  OPEN
Collect physical box tops labels from products to be redeemed for cash. Encourage use of app to "collect" digital box tops.  Coordinate incentive programs with approval of PSO President and Hilton Principal to encourage students to bring in box tops.  

Book Fair - Candy Vander Weerdt
Coordinate volunteers to help set up, work and clean up the Scholastic Book Fair.  Prepare materials to be used by students during a week long series of reading activities.  Also includes the family-oriented evening focusing on making reading fun.

Bowling - Katie Batcheller
Organize the recreational Fall, Winter and Spring bowling leagues for students.

Chess Club - Erika McCrodden

Creative Writing Corner - PAUSED 2020-2021
For the younger students, a few words or a picture may be appropriate.  The older children may write a paragraph or two. Participants will receive a small prize with the return of their work, such as a voucher for a free ice cream at lunch.

Cultural Arts/Assemblies - Jessica Gaver
Two or three times a year, arrange for outside organizations to provide school assemblies, which would provide artistic, cultural or educational enrichment to students.

Field Day - OPEN
Work with teachers to organize a day of relay races for the students.  Obtain volunteers and coordinate with school regarding matching a fundraiser for a non-profit organization in conjunction with event (e.g. Relay for Life, Upside of Downs, etc.)

Holiday Shoppe - Lisa Galek
Responsible for running the Hilton Holiday Shoppe. Typically the first Friday in December.  Coordinate pre-event and post-event shopping for the current year Shoppe and the upcoming year. Manage all inventory and coordinate volunteers for set up, work and clean up of event. Holiday Shoppe runs in conjunction with Scholastic Book Fair (managed by different committee).

Lobby Decoration - Megan Morris

Room Parent Coordinator - Nezie Gibbons
Organize room parents. Will hold one orientation meeting for room parents. Also coordinates the emergency phone chain form and initiates information collection from each room parent.

School Supply Kits - Sarah Crupi
Work with vendors to find the best provider for the school supplies. Coordinate getting information to Hilton families (of current and incoming students). Coordinate distribution of kits prior to first day of school.

Spirit Wear - Mary Green

STEM - Jessica Williams & OPEN
Coordinates the experiments and the materials necessary to conduct experiments for this all-school science experience. Seeks out parent or high school volunteers and trains them to do the simple, hands-on experiments directly with the students. Three Science DZs take place each school year during school hours.  Also includes the family-oriented evening focusing on making math fun.

Staff Appreciation - Julie Hackney, Vanessa Caslow
Plan and coordinate a week of staff appreciation events.

Students in the Arts Representative - March/April - Brandi Draper
Serve as Hilton’s Representative for the PSO Council “Students in the Arts” competition. Publicize competition at Hilton to attract student entries. You will need to transport artwork from Hilton to the Middle School for judging; attend the evening awards program held at the Middle School; and then return artwork to Hilton for display in our lobby.

Yearbook - Megan Cengic
Coordinate all activities at the school level for production.  Work with yearbook company to layout the yearbook.

Who Are We?

The Hilton PSO (Parent-School Organization) is a group of parents and teachers who work to support the school by organizing events, providing recognition to students/teachers, coordinating volunteer efforts in the school, and raising money for special school projects. Our goal is to enhance the education of each student at Hilton.
